Power controller cabling
Make sure you check your connections before applying power to the system. Incorrect voltages and/or incorrect cabling can damage the HiFiBerry board, the Pi and/or the power controller. There is no warranty replacement if the board was damaged due to incorrect cabling, polarity or voltage.
Connecting the power controller
This the the normal cabling scheme for all installations that run from a single 5V power supply.
External 5V power is supplied to the power controller, the connection between the power controller is done with the supplied ribbon cable.
Connecting the power controller to the Amp2
Important: Make sure that the jumper on the power controller is removed!
External power is supplied directly to the power controller to the Vin pins. The Vout power output of the power controller is connected to the power input of the Amp2. The ribbon cable is still needed for both firmware programming and communication between the Pi and the power controller.
Connecting the power controller to the Pi without external power
This is needed if you want to program a new firmware. As during firmware programming, external power would be cut, you need to power the Pi directly, not via the power controller. For this, you simply connect the Pi and the power controller with the supplied ribbon cable, but do not connect power to the power controller. Power is supplied as usual via the Raspberry Pi’s USB power connector.
Connecting the power controller to the Amp100
Connecting to the Amp100 requires jumper cables for the data connection.
The following cabling is needed:

Check the picture below for the connection.
On this picture, pin 1 on the power controller is the bottom left pin, pin 10 is the top right pin.
Before connecting power, check the following. If something it wrong, you might damage the power controller, the Amp1 and/or the Pi!
- Jumper on the power controller must be removed
- Polarity of the power connectors on Amp100 and power controller must be correct
- data cables must be on the correct pins
